Privacy policy.

This covers slaterank.ai and the free audit. It says what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to make us stop. Plain language on purpose.

What we collect

What you give us. When you request an audit, book a demo, or use the contact form, we collect what you type: your name, business name, email, and website address, plus anything you write in a message.

What the audit gathers. To produce your report we look at your public website, public search results for your services and towns, and what AI assistants say when asked about businesses like yours. All of that is public information. We don’t log in to anything of yours.

What your browser sends. Like every website, our server and analytics tools receive your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, how you got here, and roughly where you are (city level). We don’t try to identify you from it.

Analytics and session replay

We use two third-party tools to understand how the site is used and to fix what’s confusing.

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC). Counts visits, pages, referral sources, and general device and location data. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage. Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. Opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
  • Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation). Records how people move through pages: clicks, scrolls, and anonymized session replays. Clarity masks text you type into forms by default and we don’t unmask it. Microsoft’s privacy statement: privacy.microsoft.com. Clarity’s terms: clarity.microsoft.com/terms.

Both tools set cookies and may use similar identifiers. Neither is used to show you advertising, and we don’t run advertising pixels on this site. If that changes, this page will say so first.

How we use it

  • To run your audit and send you the report you asked for.
  • To reply when you contact us or book a demo.
  • To send one follow-up about your audit if you haven’t opened the report, and nothing after that unless you ask.
  • To understand which pages help people and which don’t, so we can fix them.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We don’t sell your information. We don’t buy lists and add you to them. We don’t send a newsletter you didn’t sign up for.

Who we share it with

Only the companies that help us run the site and the service, and only what they need to do that:

  • Hosting and email delivery providers, to serve the site and send your report.
  • Google and Microsoft, for the analytics described above.
  • Search and AI data providers we query to build your audit. They receive your website address and the services and towns being checked, not your contact details.
  • A lawyer, accountant, or authority if the law requires it.

If SlateRank is ever acquired, your information would transfer with it under the same commitments.

Cookies and your choices

We set the cookies needed for the site to work, plus the analytics cookies from Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work. You can also use the Google opt-out add-on linked above.

If you’re in a region that requires consent before analytics cookies are set, you’ll see a consent notice on your first visit and nothing is set until you say yes.

How long we keep it

  • Audit requests and reports: 24 months, then deleted unless you’ve become a client.
  • Contact and demo messages: until the conversation is closed, plus 12 months.
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics is set to 14 months. Clarity retains session data for 30 days.
  • Client account data is covered by your client agreement.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for analytics. Email hello@slaterank.ai and we’ll respond within 30 days.

If you’re in the EU, UK, or a U.S. state with a privacy law (California, Virginia, Colorado, and others), you have those rights by statute and we honor them the same way. We don’t sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there’s nothing to opt out of on that front.

Children

This site is for business owners. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think we have, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll say so on this page for 30 days. We won’t quietly reduce what we promise here.
